We have two items that we want to introduce into Kaylee over the next couple of weeks related to how she works with add-ons and external applications. Once add-on developers have had the opportunity to test them out, the Developer Preview program will come to end.

Aside from that, the dev team is busy polishing up Kaylee. As reported last time, this is not exactly exciting work but its the type of thing where doing it right instills a certain pride and is critical to making EE what it is.

Here’s just a snippet from our internal task list:

Thanks for the update. Shame I didn’t get into the developer preview but ah well, will just have to work a lot harder when 2.0 does come out to convert well over 50 add-ons now!!

Hope it’s all going okay internally though.

    Best wishes,

Don’t forget that the next step is the Beta Mark, so you’ll very likely get your opportunity then along with enough time to convert ahead of the public release.

And yes, progress has been extremely good for the past several months, especially with the Developer Preview.

I’m with mr Bowen. Thanks for the update, didn’t get into the dev preview, but hoping for a chance when the beta comes 😊

    Good luck with the progress!

Ah okay thanks. Just getting a lot of PMs and e-mails asking me if I’m updating all my add-ons to 2.0 and having to tell people I don’t know yet 😉

Excellent news. That’s probably got something to do with the fact that you are all such a fantastic team I should think 😊

    Best wishes,

I think from a technical standpoint I would be a horrible beta tester, but where I know I could contribute (and have) is in the documentation. I’ll ferret out more typos, missing steps/incorrect instructions, broken links, and wrong screenshots than anyone else if given the chance.

I’d be almost as happy with just the documentation, but without the software to compare results to this wouldn’t work too well. I don’t think I plan to update any of my sites until version 2.0.9 anyway. Let the rest of the brave souls find out what pitfalls there may be, but I’d love to fresh install a beta license (I have unused domains and databases).

Will there be any place for folk like me? Or will we just have to unleash our anal editing on the docs after 2.0 goes live?

Oh stop it, you make it sound like you’ve done like 20 add ons or something.

    oh, wait, you have 😊

I bet you do get a lot of messages about that. lol you should make a page on your site and just point people there.

Which RSS feed or forum thread do we need to subscribe to in order to find out about applying for beta testing as the invite process begins?

Personally I think you should include some none professional/tech types in your beta test.  Its one thing for a bunch of professionals to tell you the minor/major glitches and then how easy the new system is.  Its another for a none tech type to take your system for a spin, read and follow the instructions that all tech types find easy but always seem to assume knowledge and miss steps.

I think you would get a whole different set of data but no less useful.

ok so I know I’m dreaming.  Still I think it would be of benefit to you all.  Or maybe just a benefit to people like me.

Still I’m looking forward to seeing the result of all the hard work you guys have been putting in.

Thanks cmw1, great points. Actually, you aren’t dreaming at all. We’re interested in all types of users, and allow me to encourage you right now to apply when it opens up.
