The last post in there was a mention of some corrupt files, has a new set of EE and MSM files been uploaded to rule that out?

Yes, he said he replaced all of them. Although, might be worth checking the file that has the simple search code in it in a text editor or something to make sure it looks good. Just to be double sure.

Alright.  R.BIRD, I’m going to send you an email shortly.  Please follow the instructions therein.

Thanks Kurt for all the extra help as well!

While you get that information to me, can you please try FTP’ing to your server and going to /system/cache and deleting everything inside that folder, then reset the cache permissions to 777? Let’s rule that out as a possibility.

Also, please head to Admin -> Utilities -> Extension Manager and let us know what extensions you have enabled.

    Thanks!

    Okay, Lisa.

FTP’d in and deleted cache folders and set to 777. No change in behavior on that.

    Extensions enabled:
    LG Image Manager (v.1.2.0)
    LG TinyMCE (v.1.3.3)
    Edit Tab AJAX (v.1.2.2)
    Sitemap Pinger (v.1.3)

    +
I’m going to fill in your login request form next.

Ok, can you try globally disabling extensions (green button in upper right) and try again?  This will not lose your settings as long as you do not disable individual extensions.

There are known issues with LG TinyMCE and search as well, so we do need to test this.

    Thanks!

Ok, I’m getting server not found with FTP.  However, it looks like it’s failing to pass the search string (it should look like a bunch of random characters) and redirecting to “index”.

Are you running any .htaccess file?  Can you please post the contents of them please?

You found it! Nice catch, Lisa.

    This was the culprit

    http://ellislab.com/blog/entry/live_preview_with_coda_and_other_ides/

which asked for this entry in .htaccess for the public directory:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule ^(.*)\.php$ /index.php/$1 [L,R=301]

Search now magically restored to working order.

Thanks a million for the attention on this. And let Derek know about it, too!

Ok, so ditching that makes the search work?

Correct. Eliminating Derek’s “trick” for live preview in Coda, search function returns to normal.

I would have never thought to look back at .htaccess files, so gold stars for you, Lisa.

I can’t imagine that I am the only one whose search function suddenly “disappeared” without any obvious connection.

Maybe Derek can rewrite his Rewrite to workaround the problem?

    Thanks, again.

You might post about the conflict in the Coda thread you linked to.  Someone there may have a solution for you.

Glad this one is working now!
