    Hi!

I’m thinking about buying my first Mac, a Macbook.

The thing is that I’m between the Macbook Aluminium and the updated Macbook white.

Both are 13.3’’ with Intel Core2Duo 2.0GHZ, 2GB RAM y integrated gaphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M

Really I don’t see much difference on the technical caracteristics, only that the Aluminium have Trackpad Multi-Touch, RAM DDR3 and a faster bus.

But the difference in price here in Argentina is u$s400.

    Does the difference cost that?

    Thanks

Are you getting a macbook because of the portability?

given that the plastic has been recognized by apple to crack i would go with the aluminum mac. i have a macbook pro and you cant beat the feel of a full body aluminum mac.

I would recommend the newer alu version, because of the poor quality of the plastic. You also get a slightly bigger hard drive 😊
It’s really up to you if this is worth the extra 400$.

If you’re conserned about the $400, then you might want to go for something non Apple, as you pay a huge premium for the brand, but ultimatly, its up to you

The multi-touch trackpad might also be a reason for choosing the unibody MacBook.

May be with that $400 save I can go for 4GB RAM and a bigger HD, right?

    Another question about this,

The new clickeable multi touch trackpad looks a bit fragile, what about that?

    @GuidoRossi:

    Fragile, how?
It feels pretty durable to me (and I really like the multi-touch gestures).

I don’t know, the clickeable part seems that with the use it can be broken. But its just a feeling..

I haven’t had any issues with the clickable trackpad.

What makes you think I’m a Microsoft ‘fanboy’?
I happen to primarily use Linux 😊

well imo its up to you. If you want to spend 400$ more get the “new alluminum” one else get the cheaper and some bonus ram and HD.

If you are not in the “movie & 3d Art” thing even the old 2gig core duo macbooks will do the job very well if you give em 4gigs ram and a 500gig hd.

I got a black 2ghz core duo on my own and use it most of the time for photoshop and office use. with 4gigs ram its more then enough 😊
