Problem when upgrading from EE Core to EE Professional

I built a site using EE Core, and then just bought the EE Professional license.

I copied over the folders as instructed, and then tried to access my site; I get the message

“The system does not appear to be installed.”

I haven’t run the install.php page, because I suspect it would blow away my existing site; I didn’t copy over any of the single pages that I got with the professional install, just replaced the folders as instructed.

Is there anything else that I need to do? I have a backup of the whole site’s pages (not the database yet) so I’m not worried about losing anything; I’d just like to get going with the professional license.

    Thanks,

    Bob Patin

Welcome to the ExpressionEngine forums, longterm.

Can you please check and make sure you have a path.php and config.php file that aren’t zeo bytes in length.

The path.php is in the root of your site, and the config.php is in the /system directory.

Thanks for the fast reply! 😊

I do have a 1K path.php file, but no file called “config.php”; this was a site that was working before the upgrade. I don’t see a file called “config.php” either in the EE fileset nor on my server; your help will be greatly appreciated.

Oops, misspoke… config.php is in System; should I have kept my existing config.php file? I have it, in case that’s the case…

I just put back the previous “config.php” and it’s working now… thanks for your quick response. This just makes me love EE even more, if that’s even possible!
