You could first try: Admin › Utilities › Data Pruning › Weblog Entry Pruning

The EE Edit Tab allows you to filter entries by Status, so it’s easy to find and delete closed entries with the toggle-box in the top right corner.
To deal with the expired entries, if you don’t want to fiddle with SQL-queries you could install the Entry Expiration Notification extension and configure it to automatically close expired entries. Then proceed as outlined above.
