I have a problem where new member groups get created and by default, they have no permissions in my discussion forums. These new member groups are created off a template group that does have permissions to all the forum categories and indvidual forums by default. Default Permissions in the Forum Module are enabled and the template member group is given access to all relevant forums.

I get that (or presume that) default permissions are for when a new forum is created and it inherits the default permission set. However, i’m wondering if it’s possible to do the same thing for a new member group? As i said, i am basing my new member group off an existing member group that has appropriate permissions in the forums but that doesn’t seem to do the trick.

The reason this is an issue is because there are something like 9-10 different forums or forum categories where permissions will need to be set for a new group. I’d like to avoid that (or narrow it down) if possible.

    Thoughts/suggestions?

    Chad,

I am pretty sure this is expected behaviour but will check with dev team on your behalf.

Chad, this is currently how things work, but a feature request would be in order.
