Is there going to be anything to EE Forum module? Everything is focused to EE2.0 but i havent read nothing if there is coming something really needed improvements to Forum module - so little tiny question: Are Ellislab focusing only to EE2.0 or do we get better forum module some day/year?
The best thing to do is head over to the Feature Request forum and tell us specifically what you’d like to see in future versions of the forum. Tell us what features you’re looking for, how you’d use them, and how they’d improve the community you run.

Thanks to both of you, Derek and Leslie.
@Leslie, i have done those FR’s but dont want to “lift them to top” cos what i see, that is not the common way here to do.
I’ll just go the forum that i now have and hope for Ellislab bringing forums closer to the main EE and add few functions etc. when you there have the time to go for the Forums!
I was interested if there was something but as said, there is none so i’ll have to live what i have,
Cheers:
- Pete

I’m not “new” to EE - but I’ve reached a point in my use of EE that requires the development of an plugin and/or module.
With the upcoming release of EE 2.0 - do I wait? I’d hate to put the work into an extension only to have it become antiquated within a few weeks.

1.x will be around and supported for quite some time - if you have a need for something now, develop it now. And most add-ons will be able to be converted to 2.0 with minimal effort for an experienced coder. Some syntax and architectural changes, but your primary logic, database schema, etc. will not change a bit.

We always recommend developing for the current version. When 2.0 comes out your work will not be antiquated, 1.6.7 will not suddenly cease to exist. It will be probably be around for years. Its just very unlikely that the current EE install base will switch fast enough to make 1.x irrelevant, that’s just not how transitions typically happen in the blog/cms market. Instead you are more likely to see a market for both versions, at least for a year +. Plus, you’ll have gained experience developing for the community that can be translated to 2.0 so you can hit both install bases.
