    Hi,

I just moved my finished website to the official server and followed the instructions from the Knowledge base on “How do I move EE to another server?”

I got everything right except that now, my site seems to have lost some encoding (a lot of symbols and french accents are messed up), and it seems to be using older templates than what i had on the development site.

Also, the CPAdmin is now style less… it’s as if all there were no theme…

Is there as step i might have missed or a config info i didn’t add?

Maybe it’s because i’m presently using an IP address? (the domain DNS will be changed when the site is working on that new server)

Here is the new server site:
    http://64.13.249.226/

and here is the dev site i still have online:
    http://www.animatch.org/

I really don’t know why the templates didn’t follow in the move… and why the symbols and characters are all messed up…

    Thanks for the help!

    Batdelfuego,

Ingmar does a great job of explaining how your site might have changed it’s encoding here.

Regarding your CP theme see if the following KB article helps.

EE KB : My Control Panel appears to be unstyled / looks funny

Thanks again for your help John…

I checked the info. Seems like I would hav eto fix all the encoding by hand in all the weblogs…
And I did get to fix the admin style, but the templates that are being rendered in my new site are still older templates… even if I re-copy them again. They never seem to update the the most recent ones.

I think my problem is more complex than expected.

I will reinstall a clean EE system and start from scratch… see if i can copy paste all my templates and re-use the weblogs from my databases…
I don’t like to think that my system is not configured perfectly… if i get bugs in the future or after updates and have to do some major fixes that wont be too much fun…

    I hope this will work…

    thanks man!

I think what you are seeing might still be a caching issue. If deleting the cache in EE and your browser does not work, try deleting it manually via FTP, too. Let us know how it goes.

All right… all is good! 😊

    I cleared my cache.
    I checked all my permissions.
I fixed all my links in my Global configuration.
I fixed the links in my Global template pref (I had forgotten about this one).

    I refreshed at least 100 times…

And it worked… once DNS got transferred it was a bit easier to fix.

I still have my problem with the UTF-8 codes in a few pages (where some french or specific symbols were entered)... But i’ve cleaned that by hand.

Thank you very much again to all of you for your help.
This baby is now online… 3 months of work… And everyone is happy !!

    Have a good weekend!
