We have a weblog of photos, each of which is then related to an entry in our articles weblog. Since this happens on the day both the photo and the article entry are created, we’ve limited the article titles in the relationship field drop-down to the 50 most recent (there are around 20K entries total in the database—a real drag to pull up in a list every time if we didn’t need it).
Today, one of our editors pulled up a photo from last week to edit the caption field. As far as I know, the related entry list field wasn’t touched. When the entry was re-saved, the relationship disappeared, and, since the article that needed to be connected was outside the 50 most recent, it couldn’t be re-linked without upping the list limit (which I did, and got the article to relate properly again).
Does updating the entry write over what’s in the related entry field whether it’s edited or not? Does this mean I have to allow all the articles to show in the list to prevent this from happening in the future—since I can’t guarantee older items won’t get edited from time to time?
