Multiple Site Manager Disaster

    - I have installed multiple site manager.
    - I have created a second website. (I did not copy any content or templates from the first website.)
    - I have copied the index.php and path.php to the second website directory.
    - I have updated the path to system folder in path.php

Everything works fine ... except my “site two” shows the content and templates from “site one” (Of course without any media files that are directly referenced by URLs). To put it simply, there is NO “site two”, it’s just a copy of “site one”. Any settings I make to “site two” (taking it offline, creating templates, setting URL in General Configuration) take no effect at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, zencode - welcome to the forums!

When you created Site 2, what did you choose for the drop-downs for the weblogs, templates, etc?

Is the incorrect data being show in Site 2 on the front-end or back-end?  And can you paste the path.php files for both Sites, please?

The data in the back-end is correct. I can switch between the websites in the control panel, create separate template groups, manage weblogs for each site ...

Website one (the one that has EE installation) is also correct on the front end.

The problem is only on the front end of website two. Website two shows the same content as website one. Any tempaltes I create for website two are ignored. When I take website two offline - that is also ignored, I still get the content of website one

path.php for both sites are correct, for site one it is pointing to /system/ and for site two it’s ../../site_one/public_html/system/
    - if the path was wrong it would not work at all.

I have gone through all the obvious causes of this, and double checked everything, I am afraid the problem is somewhere else.

I suspect that there is some sort of a bug that causes expressionengine not be recognise it’s being accessed from a second website - thus is always sending the content of the first site.

Can you please paste the path.php for site 2, as requested earlier?

    Thank you!

You’re missing the site_name variable, explained in the domain setup section of the MSM docs.

    You need to add:

    $site_name = 'Site_Short_Name';

    to your path.php. =)

No worries, zencode - but that’s why I wanted to see path.php 😉 It’s all working now then?
