On a somewhat less (?) serious note, and because you brought up the topic of Nigerian princes: Go read http://www.419eater.com if you find the time. It’s hilarious.

    Wow.

Time well-wasted… if that’s possible? hahaha
    Amazing.

    indeed

    See EE is deadware?

After waiting for the 2.0 release that was SUPPOSED to be out in summer 2008, it’s time to move to a different platform.

I suppose the joke’s on me, should have moved a year ago.

    See EE is deadware?

Is that a question or a statement?

After waiting for the 2.0 release that was SUPPOSED to be out in summer 2008, it’s time to move to a different platform.

And what is it about the feature set of EE 2.0 that is so drastically different from 1.6.7 that would cause a developer to move to a different platform? Do we even have a feature set for EE 2.0?

I suppose the joke’s on me, should have moved a year ago.

Just curious - what platform are you planning to move to? Do you intend to migrate your EE sites to the new platform?**  Why is EE 1.6.7 not as good as your new platform? Where is EE 2.0 falling short when compared to your new platform?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

    **You gotta love billable hours.

    I’m NOT a developer.

I got sucked into EE in 2004 when Pmachine was soliciting Movable Type bloggers.

My last posts here were deleted, so I really don’t want to waste my time on a long discussion only to have it deleted again.

My EE blog was shut down by court order for a couple months and after a recent favorable court ruling, I just opened it back up and I can’t believe what a struggle it is to admin comments and to post.

I have NO idea what the 2.0 features are but I had HOPED that ease of use and functionality would become similar to the selfhosted WordPress.

I have a spare EE commercial license for sale and there’s been no interest whatsoever.  So I had hoped to be able to do “something” with it and I was quite surprised to no longer see the development topic that USED to be the first topic in this forum with all the official announcements.

A search for “2.0 release” got me to this thread.

    Not funny, just depressing.

Whatever. I think I’ll just tip toe quietly to a conversation on the other side of the room. Bye bye now.

If you think waiting for software is hard on business, good thing you aren’t running Vbulletin sites right now. What a nightmare that is. I have researched CMS solutions extensively and EE, whether its 1.6 or 2.0, does the job better than most. So I’m wondering what this new platform is you are looking at cuz I’d like to see it.

Pssst. He’s not a developer. There is no other platform that’s spongeworthy. We’re not the droids he’s looking for.

Your last posts weren’t deleted because of your point of view.

I’m sorry that our product isn’t a great fit for your needs, but we also don’t claim that ExpressionEngine is always the best choice for every site or every individual.  If a selfhosted WordPress site can handle your needs and is more pleasurable for you to use, I encourage you to go ahead and make the move.  It’s a good product for that niche, and not one that ExpressionEngine particularly targets.

Play nice everyone. Its perfectly okay to be frustrated with 2.0’s delay, you know we are too. What’s not okay is cynicism, disrespect, and sarcasm against us or anyone else in the community. If someone has constructive criticism they want to get out, let them.

Christin, I know you’re frustrated but coming in here and just being negative doesn’t solve anything. It wont’ solve your issue and it won’t get 2.0 out any faster. Instead of being depressed, ask what your options are. Your premise seems to be that since 2.0 isn’t out that there isn’t a solution to your issue. That’s probably not the case. If you need better anti-spam control, ask for it. If you need better comment moderation, ask for that as well. Be proactive in seeing if a solution exists.

Based on your comments, it sounds like you might benefit from exploring the various anti-spam options that are available. Just about every anti-spam solution available for Wordpress, MT, and Drupal also has an EE version. There is a informative thread on the subject

If you explore and find that EE doesn’t meet your needs or another system is more suited to your project, move on. We promote success regardless of the solution.

My apologies for being so “negative” at YOUR site.

    Congratulations, Administrator Derek Jones!

Mr. Jones’ posting motivated me to post my thoughts at MY site and here is a rough draft:

removed by admin for personal attacks

I’ll probably rewrite it a little tomorrow.

Feel free to delete HERE, but you won’t be deleting my Expression Engine review at MY sites.

    Enjoy!

    Hi Christin,

Too bad you feel that way. Nobody lied to you, nobody mistreated you. Its unfortunate that you choose to make such personal attacks instead of sticking to criticism of EE. What you say about Derek Jones is just plain wrong.

But regardless, best on you going forward. I hope you find a solution and community that meets your needs.

And that officially brings this thread to end.
