Hello, I am using 1 and 1 in the UK for hosting. They are offering the GeoTrust dedicated public / private key option as an add on to my package.
I am just looking to implement the Simple Commerce module and wondered if someone could check this through that I can order this service. Its a £3.99 per month addition to my package so I wanted to be sure it is OK.
The description states
Why do I need an SSL Certificate with my package?
An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Certificate safeguards the reputation of your business by using a public-and-private key encryption system to uniquely identify individuals carrying out transactions on your website, making information exchanged unintelligible to anyone other than the intended recipients.
Digital authentication
With the 1&1 SSL Certificate, your customers are assured that they are not exposed to the risks associated with transmitting data over an open network. Working in partnership with GeoTrust, leaders in online identity and trust services, the 1&1 SSL Certificate works as a digital passport - authenticating your website to the customer, whilst protecting you from receiving untrustworthy data.
The 1&1 SSL Certificate gives you all this:* Up to 256 bit encryption - fully compliant with industry standards.
* SSL Certification exclusive to your domain name.
* Encryption methods compatible with 99% of browsers, including Microsoft and Mozilla.
* Easy set-up through your 1&1 Control Panel with installation organised by 1&1.
* The same level of protection as the QuickSSL Premium certificate, which retails at over £125 per year independently from Geotrust Inc.
1&1 SSL Certificates are included with the Professional Shared Hosting packages, the Developer eShop and all 1&1 Managed Server packages. You can make your 1&1 website SSL Certified for £3.99 per month by accessing your Control Panel.
I hope someone can help.
Thank you.
