Yesterday I finally ordered a MacBook Pro 17” from the Apple store (my first mac 😊), and I was a bit surprised by the long wait time.
I wonder, are there anyone else who have ordered one of the new 17”?

    My calculated dates:
    Shipping: 7-10 days
    Arrival: 19 Feb, 2009 - 25 Feb, 2009

They seem to be a bit long, but with my iPod touch I got it 10 days earlier than what was stated - I can only hope that it will be the same with my MacBook.

Did you order a machine with non-default parts? Any time you make a change from the stock configuration (hard drive, RAM, etc), you take a hit in delivery time. My 15” took a little more than a week to arrive because I ordered it with a 7200rpm drive upgrade.

I chose the more powerful processor and the faster harddrive (not SSD), I also ordered for a preinstalled iWork.
So it may increase the time somewhat, but I don’t think 2-3.5 weeks is reasonable (not when they say 7-10 days on the site).

my 15” MBP took about that long, apparently it had to be shipped from Singapore.

    2 - 3.5 weeks is reasonable i’m afraid.

Apple quoted shipping dates on the store are for the part number MB604B (17” Macbook Pro).

You have ordered a CTO (Custom to Order) machine, these are built from scratch for you!

All custom machines for Europe are assembled in Cork Ireland from scratch, I believe the Mac Pro’s even have theres cases cast in ireland.

Anyways, in my experience (previously working for the godless organisation) CTO’s take longer even if the changes seem small.

Ok, seems like I just have to be patient and wait.

btw, anyone having a time machine stowed away somewhere? 😛

EDIT: the real thing, not that apple copy which only enables backwards travel

Traveling backwards in time is far more difficult than traveling forward in time: everyone is time-traveling into the future at a rate of one second per second (more or less). You can speed up how fast you journey into the future by accelerating to some significant portion of the speed of light.

    lol

Yeah, I’ve read my relativity theory.
But sometimes one second at a time seems to be too slow 😉

So go out for a drive, and go as fast as you (safely) can. The time dilation might be minuscule, but unless you have a Bussard ramscoop in your garage, I think that’s the best you can do. 😉

I think it would be better to just forget that time exists for a while, that can I do with two things: making myself busy (ie. code something or sleep) or increase my velocity with 300 000 km/s during 0 time.
I think the former is easier. 😛

Got an email which said that they’ve delayed the shipping of the 17” MacBook.
Anyone else who got a similar mail?
