This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I recently discovered some additional issues with our search results.

For example, a search result links a user to the following page:
    http://upsstoreowners.com/index.php?/resources/techno_corner/

But if you click on this link, it asks you to log in over and over (it is member-only content, but even if you are logged in it will still ask you to log in continuously).

The same page can be found at the following URL w/o this problem occurring: http://upsstoreowners.org/index.php?/resources/category/techno_corner/

However, the problem only occurs in IE and Safari. In Firefox, both
    http://upsstoreowners.org/index.php?/resources/category/techno_corner/
    and
    http://upsstoreowners.com/index.php?/resources/techno_corner/

lead me to the same page and none of the login problems occur. Any ideas?

tupssofoa, make sure that the url you are using to login has the non-www version of the URL. I’ll bet that’s what the issue is.

You can also set the cookie domain to .upsstoreowners.com.

    Sue,

The login URL is already the non-www version of the URL.

I also set the cookie domain to .upsstoreowners.com but the problem is still occurring.

    Any other potential fixes?

New members must be approved by an admin.

Also, now in Firefox and IE, no one can log into the site. I can’t even log into the /system directory, it just returns me to the login page over and over. I can access the control panel using Safari. Is this a result of setting the cookie domain to .upsstoreowners.com?

    tupssfoa:

Can you please delete all of your cookie browsers.  Then FTP in and go to your /system/cache folder, and delete everything in that cache folder except for the index.html file.

Now, double check to make sure the folder permissions are set to 777.

If you try to log in again, does it work?

    Greg:

I just deleted the contents of /system/cache. It contained other folders (db_cache, magpie_cache, page_cache, sql_cache, and tag_cache) and I deleted all of their contents as well.

I did notice the permissions were set to 775, so I changed them to 777.

Still having the same problems as before.

Delete the folders as well as the files. You’ll be left with the index.html and the /cache directory.

Just deleted the folders as well. The only file left is the index.html file inside the /system/cache folder. The folder’s permissions are set to 777. I cleared my browser cookies and still cannot login to upsstoreowners.org/system using Firefox; only Safari seems to work at this point.

The original problem with the search results still exists as well.

One thing I am noticing is that in Firefox that my cookies aren’t being saved after being logged in. There’s got to be something else going on.

If I remove .upsstoreowners.com from the Cookie Domain field (Admin < System Preferences < Cookie Settings), things seem to work okay in Firefox again.

However, this was recommended in order to fix my original problem. I am going to leave it blank for now so that users can actually log into the site while we resolve the original search results problem.

Ok great - can you clarify where you’re at now with search and what the exact issue is?
