I have been using EE (personal) for my own site for quite a few years. Up to now I have not really considered using it for other sites. However, I am now thinking I’m actually ready to do that 😊 So, I have a couple of questions in regards to this.

The entity I am wanting to use EE for is a non-profit, so I’m thinking for sure that the free/core version will work. Correct?

I am going to d/l and install the core version because I do want the group to have a look at how the site will function before committing to paying. We do want other features that are in the personal version, so again, I’m thinking we can use the personal (ie non-commercial) version, since they are a non-profit group? Correct?

It’s been soooooooo long since I installed EE on my own site. If I install the core version and then we decide to go ahead and purchase a license, is it possible to upgrade or will we need to uninstall and then re-install the personal version?

The other question that I have is in regard to licensing. Can I purchase the license for them? Is it possible to manage multiple licenses? I’m sure people do this, but I just have not done so until now.

I think that is all! thank you!

Yes, EECore is fine for non-profit use, or the personal version.

It is possible to upgrade, you can find instructions in the docs

Yes, you can purchase the license for them which is nice as it accrues credits to the Volume Discount Program.  You can transfer it to them later by emailing sales with the license number and their ExpressionEngine.com username.

Hope that helps!  Let us know if you have any other questions.
