I tried to find a good site that provide EE Themes or Templates, but google has showed, “ExpressionEngine Themes or ExpressionEngine Templates” with very few links on it. I have seen tons of templates or themes available for WP. I wonder if these templates still can work with EE?

    Thanks

Sure, I use WP themes all the time. All you need is to take a look at a demo site, grab the XHTML code, paste it into your template and replace relevant parts with your EE tags. This is true for all HTML pages, by the way, not just WP themes.

This is one of the good parts coming with EE. Templating system and things you can do with it. I personally havent done above. I have created all my sites from zero to hero but its all good =)

I’ve done it 2x before - takes a little time, but not difficult.

you can google “Free CSS Templates” and come up with a ton of sites that offer templates that can easily be EE’d

    or Free CSS Templates

is a good site to start with.

Boyink’s Train-ee.com free tutorial goes through some of the steps to convert a template to ee

Thank you for more information. I appreciate it. I already download one css template to test my knowledge. 😊

    Check my website: aslan.aslpride.tv

You can see my template didn’t show the graphic attached with texts. I already copy and paste for index, but I have another file under CSS Stylesheet. I tried to do two ways by copy paste into index file and its own css_stylesheet. Neither works. Any tips?

    Thanks.

I did figure it out, but I still can’t add css due to this message…

“The name you have chosen is a reserved word that can not be used.”

How can I overdrive this block?

    Thanks

try naming your css template to “stylesheet” and update your link to it as such.

remember to choose template type as “CSS Stylesheet” in the drop down menu of the “new template form” when making a css stylesheet.

I wonder if its so much easier to take some ready “template” than you make of your own. What comes to me and my poor know-how with creating “templates”(css-based pages) it’s for me, a learning process and i have made that conclusion that it’s more educating to make all from zero to hero than working with ready templates.

By this way i learn things and by this way i make my work getting better and faster. I hope that when another year goes by, i then dont need anymore of any kind of WYSIWYG-editors to work with EE. (well to be honest i dont use them anymore unless i work with tables and something that i dont know how to write it to codes).

Huge help has been the books i bought byt i think that EE-forums are the first what comes in solving problems. There is so much forums what comes when talking about designs and coding but rearly i find such forums as this is. Everyone here as kind of a “same family” and open and helpfull in any cases. Was it the css, or php, or basic html. And the help here is usually very fast. You get answers to your EE problems so fast that it still makes me happy. I have said that i try to help as much as i can and i will do that more and more when my own skills gets better.

This said - using ready templates or not, here you can always find help and answers to your questions and you get the ideas and resources that are in the top of what you find from the internet.

Salut i say! - To EE.

    Yours:
    - Tuittu and badly written english! =)
