Well I knew it was possible but I thought he meant legally 😉

I was just in the Apple store last weekend and saw notices everywhere saying that if you jailbreak your iPhone in any way at all and have any problems with it then if Apple try to upgrade the software then it could turn your product into an un-use-able product.

Probably not really worth the hassle. I know that there is probably a way to do it fairly safely but if you ever have any problems then you’re a little stuffed really aren’t you!?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Well I’m going to backup my computer now and will be taking it into the Apple Store tomorrow night so will be without my faithful side-kick for around 5-7 days.

Don’t know what I’m going to do without my friend!!

See you all soon. Will still pop in from time to time on my Wifes computer so you haven’t completely gotten rid of me although I know some of you are wishing! 😉

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Computer completely backed up and ready for the off.

I will be around using another computer but if I’m not back online fully in the next 5-7 days then just wait longer 😉
Find the film reference in that last sentence. There may be a prize for the person who gets it first but only as long as you can prove you didn’t look it up!! 😊 Then again there just might not be a prize too! 😊

The just wait longer, isn’t that a Jim Carrey reference from Ace Ventura pet detective? I believe it was when he was going to the ward to look for information on Rodger Padactor. Or however you spell it.

    Close but no cigar, sorry.

Spot on with the film. Name is Roger Podacter though 😉

Good memory. One more quick film question then. What is the very very famous line that the little green (well brown actually 😉 ) man - you know the one I mean, the main character, from E.T. says?

Surely the only thing ET said of note was either ‘phone home’ or ‘beeeeee gooooooood’!

Unfortunately I can’t find a video on YouTube but he didn’t quite say “Phone Home” he said something else in the original 1982 version. I remember it plain as day yet every video I ever find of it has been changed to say “Phone Home” nowadays. It was slightly different in the original though.

    Nobody?

I’ll put you out of your misery then shall I? 😉

E.T. originally said “E.T. Home Phone”. He gets his words muddled up. One I always remember. Bit of a film fanatic me. Used to go and see around 6 films a day a few years back!!!

Long story going back to the day when I very first bought it. I got it just after the MacBook Pro’s very first came out. This was when they had all the problems with the displays. I ended up receiving and sending back no less than 5 computers all the way to China before I got one that I settled upon. The problems were still there with the display though unfortunately and so I ended up living with it.

Just before Christmas though and literally immediately my screen on the lower half started getting lines all the way across it. If you slightly (and very carefully) squeeze / flex the screen on the one side then the problem goes away but it was getting more and more prolific and so I decided to get it seen to. Now this is a computer which is just over 3 years old. I have never ever purchased any kind of after care service in my life as I am an Electronics Engineer so have always fixed things myself. I thought that I would take it into the Apple Store and see if they think it’s either the video cable or the screen itself. Turns out it doesn’t really matter in my case as the whole of the screen and the cable come as one complete unit so they took a look on their system and found that I somehow still have it under warranty after 3 years!! Not really too sure how but I’m not going to complain!

Anyway they have said that they are going to test it first by re-seating the cable (been there done that and I know it’s not that anyway) and then if that doesn’t fix it then they will just plop on a brand new screen. All at no cost to me!!

Win win really. The sad part is that I am without my trusted side-kick for a few days though. Also my car just went in for some minor mending to it so it can pass it’s M.O.T. All I have to do now is sell my soul and I will have nothing left!! 😊

Good news though is that when my car went in for its M.O.T. test the things that it didn’t pass on are really really small items which always go wrong with these cars anyway so I’m not too bothered on that. The thing that really scared me though was that when I went to see them they said that they had to re-calibrate and re-test my car or emissions 3 times.

This got me pretty scared as I thought they were going to say that it had failed and I had been gassing everyone.

Far from it! They said they had never in over 40 years of servicing had a car in (mine is 8 years old now) which has come back with zero emissions!! Yep zero!! They said even brand new cars get some even if very minute!!

I think I should be paid by the government instead of me paying road tax just for that!!

The other good news is that I won’t have to pay to get my Mac fixed either so good good!!!

Thanks for the note about the blog post just read it.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
