Not that I want any and please don’t anyone go signing me up for any or I’ll be annoyed 😉 but just wondering if anyone else has noticed a major drop in SPAM e-mails in general.

Over Christmas it was business as usual. Tons of SPAM and tons of time each day trying to sort it all out. Come New Years Day I thought my e-mails had all gone down or something as I am literally getting zero SPAM messages now!! Host has done nothing different, I’ve done nothing different.

Have all the spammers been caught or something?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

I’ve had four or five per day in the past week or so; down from the usual daily dozen. Commenting spam seems to be about the same. Spammers should be brought to justice and required to interview George W. Bush for hours every day, for a minimum of 12 months.

Everyone needs a vacation, even spammers.  My guess is they’ll be back soon.  For what it’s worth, I’m getting the same amount as before (a couple a day).

Indeed Mark I noticed a major increase at the beginning of December carrying on right up to Christmas but since then there has definitely been a drop - though I have pruned a couple of email accounts that wee being spammed to death and I have put a new email account in my Domain owners records (a definite source of email address capture) - that should also see a reduction for a while until they harvest the new one.

Perhaps, even spammers are being hit by the slow down in the global economy.

Oops. Sorry Mark, I see that you were talking about post-Christmas.

Didn’t you guys see the news? There was at least one major host shut down:

    Washington Post story

and I thought that there was another one as well. Probably won’t be too long before they come back. :-(

Yea….. Once they learn what McColo did wrong to get caught, they’ll be back and even more bulletproof.

I have changed and moved all my domains on my servers to use Google’s email servers. still use my domain names but google manages the mail.

I haven’t had any spam in over a year 😊 maybe one spam message creeps through every month.

And they’re back 😊  Had 10 spam messages awaiting me this morning.  I can’t recall the last time I had that many overnight. I usually manage to escape spam (most of my accounts are with Google…as JT says, GMail’s filters are very effective).

    Oh well…
