Confusion about MSM

    Hi,
I’ve been reading about the MSM, I’ve got the commercial license and MSM installed but today when I tried to set up a new site, I was confused about some things. I’m hosted on a Media Temple DV account with Plesk, in case that makes a difference to anyone.

So After I set up the new site in EE I configured it as outlined in the Docs. Then I went to setting up a domain and didn’t quite understand it so I started reading forum posts and came to the conclusion that the ‘best’ way to set it up is to create a new folder on the original sites directory, let’s call it site2. Next you copy over the path.php and index.php files to that folder, changing the path to the system directory. Then you redirect the domain for site2 to that folder. Is that right???

In Plesk I created my new domain with frame forwarding to the folder I created for my new site. This just doesn’t seem right. Now that folder is accessible on the original domain.

Can someone please help me understand this?

    Greetings jeffc!

Have you had a chance to see this nice writeup that was done regarding MSM & MT DV’s?

Thanks! I was actually headed in that direction this morning but something I read turned me onto the wrong path. Anyway, that worked perfectly, Thanks!

Excellent!  I’m happy that did it for you.  Closing this one out, but please don’t hesitate to post again should anything else come up!

    Regards,
