At what age does a child learn to differentiate between themselves and a doll?

I mean ... well, my child (age 16 months) received some dolls for Christmas. SO F-ing CUTE MAN! The way she cradles them, and holds them?! It’s amazing!
I figure she is doing that cause we call her dolls BABIES.

I didn’t think she would do that.
She had a small 3” doll before and didn’t play with it. She received about 4 dolls, ranging in size 10-18” tall, and she has been playing with them all morning.

And, while getting ready for her noon nap, she grabbed a doll and took her to bed!

So, at what age does a child learn to differentiate between themselves and a doll? I’m thinking my baby is pretty darn advanced, or do all girls do that at about the same age?

Yeah, it’s amazing. Our girl is 14 month old now. The second day after she got her first doll she started offering her cookies and someting to drink 😊

She just tried to put all her dolls in the little stroller she also got.
Started to get frustrated and cried LOL cause they didn’t all fit.

As with anything related to human development, there isn’t a set moment when a child begins to recognize itself and others around them.  A child first recognizes its parents voices.  An infant usually places his/her mother’s voice at around one week and his/her father’s voice at around two weeks.

It takes some months for an infant to develop a sense of “other”—that it is a different being than those around it.  This happens after 6 months.  The so-called “mirror stage” (when a child is able to recognize himself/herself in a mirror…Wikipedia Jacques Lacan for more info) happens between 6 to 18 months.

    That’s all I recall from pre-med days.
