We’re not going to go into a lot of detail about the Example Site yet or provide more screenshots at this point. After all, we want to keep some things as a surprise. But we did ask Simon Collison and Greg Wood to give some insight into Agile Records development.

Cool interview.  I’d be interested in hearing more about how they built out some specific features of the site - particularly the events widget they have on the screenshot there.

so we keep the focus on smart use of weblogs (can I say “channels” yet?),

    Well I laughed.

Seriously, can’t wait to get a look at the back end of the sample site. Looks both interesting and educational.

I’ve looked at the source code of some of the sites they’ve built and ya, I could definitely learn a thing or two about how to properly manage your code heh.  One of the cooler things I see is they put a table of contents at the top of their css files.  I think I may have to adopt their coding habits 😊.

    Well done!

I’m not reading this one quite yet, I’m saving it back and calling it a stocking stuffer. Thanks for the updates in time for Christmas.
I’m glad there’s no talk of fig-ee pudding, not entirely sure what that is, and it doesn’t sound all that great. 😊
@CodysPlace thanks for pointing out about the great code from the Erskine gang. It’s easy to love a design, but when you unwrap the box, it’s sometimes dissappointing to find out for example, the darn thing was a tables layout, or a case of div-itis.
    T - Out…

Very nice, thanks for the bits.
Finally, people will be able to wipe of that disappointing look when they install EE with default theme…

looks like a standard calender weblog in a javascript ‘tabs’ wrapper to me.

I agree with bobh. It’s probably using ajax tabs. Mootools and jQuery provide plugins for that and are actually simple to implement 😊

I’m not sure if it’s going to be the default install theme. If it is that’d be awesome! I think they mean its going to be an EE demo hosted at something like expressionengine.com/demo.

However, they do need to have someone create a nice default theme for the EE install. It will help them be one step ahead in appearance compared to WordPress!

The Default Theme will be based on the Agile Records Example Site.

I’ll just bet somebody is secretly at work on a Friday update around here. There are things to report for sure.
I noticed on Twitter, somebody pointed out Solspace has a blog now:

I took a look at Erskine’s great work and can’t wait to test Agile Records website. I hope we’re getting close to the big day 😊

Man, I wish the 2.0 release date was ahead by a couple months. I’m sure you all do as well, but I am getting ready to create an EE site and it will be for a pretty good size, actual living and breathing record label.

I’m always open to being a demo/trial case for actually applying the Agile Records site to its real world counterpart.
