Do i see an event calender? cool!

You can do event calendars now with simply the weblog module & custom fields—the building blocks of EE.

    Module to be refactored: Gallery.

    My guess would be: Pages.

I hope it’s pages! It works well but could be WAY better (e.g. multilevel nav with a UI)

    Module to be refactored: Gallery.

I am guessing (and hoping) Gallery too, based on the comment in the First Impressions thread. I would be very concerned to see the Gallery disappear entirely, because I use it extensively, but I think it sounds good if it gets integrated fully with the weblog ... err, channel module as long as it somehow retains batch processing and the ability to use multiple directories to organize the images into.

Oh, and as long as it can convert existing entries in the Gallery module to whatever the new format might be. But that’s all speculation, of course, depending on whether it is actually the module in question.

Either way, good to hear things are going smoothly. I am really hoping I will be able to move to 2.0.

There is no way that Gallery module might disappear - who then buys EE (for personal and commercial usage) because from what i think, galleries (here at least) is very important part of any cms-site!

I hope Gallery module get its “facelift” when 2.0 comes - it might boost up sales here…

If the module in question is removed it will be because we’ve figured out a better way to get those features directly into EE. People who benefit from the module would still benefit from EE in the same or similar manner, just not through an add-on. The premise is to reduce the code base by adding to EE’s default feature set, thus making the module obsolete (or close to it).

Regardless of which module this is, have you thought of doing a poll to see what current features that those who currently use the module see as essential? Obviously, there’s always someone who sees a specific feature as essential, but perhaps it might offer some guidance (if that is at all needed). Assuming, of course, that you haven’t already been polling select users in private.

We’ll see after we meet first week of January where we are at on all this and we always listen to the community, though we really don’t like polling as a way of doing that. Its much better for us to hear stories.

In any case, I’m going to be out of touch the rest of the weekend. Feel free to discuss of course, I just won’t be responding again until Monday. Enjoy the weekend all.

LOL.  Keep that credit card handy. 😉

We’re busting our tails on this everyone - working very hard day and night.  I want to assure you that there is no feature-loss, and in many places there is feature-gain.

Well, it would be both. Basically we’re looking at the features the module provides and looking at other ways to accomplish those features in EE directly versus an add-on approach. Ideally we’d like to eliminate the module completely in favor of accomplishing the same or similar features in EE v. maintaining the add-on.

If I am reading this it is something that is not directly supported in EE out of the box so to speak so I think it may be the multiple site manager? If that was integrated into EE 2.0 by default that would be fab although slightly annoying as I did just pay for the current one! 😊
