Let’s hope there are more like this and it forces everyone to update IE to a better (is that even possible?) version 😉

Anything that would move people up from ie6 would be a blessing. Unfortunately the people that would use such an old version are already showing they don’t know anything about security and clearly aren’t interested in learning. So i don’t think this will help.
Maybe MS update should include ie7 and force them 😊

I for one hate IE and pretty much everything Microsoft and I know that they probably aren’t allowed to force people to update but I think that any high court judge in the land worthy of their title should allow Microsoft to do just that. Just look at how many Paracetamol that would save the world! I reckon the World economy could be turned on its head just by that one simple allowance!! 😉

ahah.. Well I don’t hate MS, in fact I prefer them in most applications, but that’s just personal preference.
It’s absurd that anyone would use 6. However: I should also mention this. I worked for Intel up until April. They are required to use IE6 because their intranet won’t work correctly on 7. That might have changed in the last couple months, but I highly doubt it. Intel is BIG time microsoft ‘only’. so much so, they don’t even allow ftp programs. Sharepoint only. Or directory mapping if the user has the perms.
So i think that type of thing is still pretty prevalent.

Unfortunately IE 7 was never released for any Windows prior to XP.

We have IE6 on about 300,000 PCs in the company I work for. Rolling out IE7 has taken 2 years for the IT teams so far - and it’s the unknown issues with IE7 that worry them, apparently. Fortunately for me many years ago I convinced IT security that I should have Firefox to test my web content work with.
It would be nice to know what to check on our own websites to see if they have been compromised.

yeah see that’s very similar to what I experienced at Intel.
I downloaded 7 and used it anyway, and never had a problem. I suspsect though that it has something to do with problems with Active Directory. perms, etc. Since everything there is so intertwined with AD having a problem would be company wide and pretty huge. So in reality they’re probably just not pushing it out yet because they haven’t tested to satisfaction, or haven’t gotten the results they want.

I was looking at the stats for DearIE6.com and I am baffled…. I don’t know if its a joke or if people are coming looking for an Easter Egg for IE6 users…. 27% of browsers have been IE6 :O
I do see loads of humor there however.
