Bug #23247 Clarification Requested

File Field Type 403 Error

Version: 3.5.10 Reporter: ImmergeTech

When uploading an image with a single quotation mark in the file name, the file upload will present a 403 Forbidden error. While it is not in good practice to include these characters in a filename, it would be a better user experience to display a descriptive error to inform the user of their mistake.

  • I wonder if this is actually a server security filter being triggered rather than EE doing it.

I just did a test on the latest- renamed a file to contain a single quote mark. It uploaded as expected, stripping the quote from the file name.

You can zip up the file and send it over to me at robin.sowell@ellislab.com and I’ll unzip and try uploading it locally. But the 403 has me suspecting the environment.
