Bug #23198 See Comments

JS error when trying to call $.ee_notice

Version: 3.5.9 Reporter: Low

This is an archived bug report. If you are experiencing a similar issue, upgrade to the latest release and if that does not solve the problem, submit a new bug report

Tried to trigger a notice in the CP using the $.ee_notice() function, as per the docs (https://docs.expressionengine.com/latest/development/cp_javascript/notification.html), but that triggers this error in the console:

> Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘lastChild’ of undefined

  • Low, can you send over the file in question? I’d like to take a closer look.

    You can email robin.sowell@expressionengine.com.

  • I could trigger the error by being on any page in the CP, opening the browser console, typing in $.ee_notice('Hello World!'); and hitting return.

  • I see what you mean.

After a double check, it looks like the solution would be to use the alert service instead.

I’ll update the documentation for the next release so that’s clear.
