It seems that the “remove_double_slashes”-Function (./system/expressionengine/libraries/Functions.php) doesn’t remove slashes at the beginning of a string.
Input:
//user/search/name//joe/location/UK/gender/male//
Output:
//user/search/name/joe/location/UK/gender/male/
