    Hi, I have just updated from 1.6.3 to 1.6.6 and everything works except when I click “Update” after switching the site back “on” in the Admin > System Preferences > General Configuration page.

    The error is:

    Warning: require(./system/core/core.system.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/vhosts/orakeitennis.org.nz/httpdocs/admin.php on line 40

    Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required './system/core/core.system.php' (include_path='.:') in /var/www/vhosts/orakeitennis.org.nz/httpdocs/admin.php on line 40

    Lines 40 - 42 of the admin.php file are:

    if ( ! ereg("/$", $system_path)) $system_path .= '/';

    require $system_path.'core/core.system'.$ext;

    The path.php file shows (“system” has actually been renamed but during the original install; nothing changed in the update in relation to the system folder itself):

    $system_path = "./system/";

    And httpdocs/system/core/core.system.php definitely exists.

    I have also double checked the file permissions of system/config.php and system/config_bak.php.

    I realise that it’s probably user error; what else should I check?

    ryal001, the error refers to admin.php - do you still have that file in the same directory as your path.php file?

    Ryan, when is this happening, when you run update.php? the first thing I’d try is a fresh upload; sometimes FTP is… iffy, and a fresh upload can fix things.

    I re-ftp’d the Core folder to apparent effect.  I then kept trying different paths in the path.php file.  I finally changed back to the original path and it works now. I suspect it might have been a cache problem.

    Moral of the story; clear the cache when debugging.

    Thanks for your assistance.
