    Running 1.6.6

    site index page = index.php
url to root directory of site = http://www.domain.com/system
    force query string = no
    no .htaccess file.

how do i get my category links to look like this:
    http://www.domain.com/index.php/templategroup/templatename

    instead of:
    http://www.domain.com/templategroup/templatename

I could be wrong, but I don’t believe the {site_url} variable ever includes the index.php bit, so you’d have to write it in yourself. You could also create a global variable of your own that includes this (documentation here).

Or you could use the {homepage} variable 😉

Pretty sure that will add in the index.php bit if you need it.

Also just out of interest you have said how do you get your category links to look correct. Out of interest what code are you using to show them in the first place because if you use something like {path="templategroup/templatename"} then that should do what you want also.

    Best wishes,

I did figure to use the {homepage} variable as my last resort and my link structure now works. What I dont understand are the differences between {homepage}{site_index} and {site_url}.

    Anyways regarding the path=temlpategroup/templatename,

inside the categories tag that code puts “category” inside my url, something i didnt want.

Definitely not less fortunate. There are loads and loads of variables out there. I forget quite a few day by day although I think that might be the age setting in!! 😉
