I have used EE as a CMS for a while and know its quite capable , but want to make sure I don’t mis speak before pushing hard for using it if there are limitations.

I am part of a team creating a series of blogs that need to sometimes share data and have their own Subdomain address. Each Editor has their own blog similar to the NY Times series of blogs. See www.nytimes.com/ref/topnews/blog-index.html

Please note the main company site uses its own CMS

The NY times is using Wordpress MU which part of my team likes, but I am trying to convince them that EE will be better for managing cross blog information sharing and searching. Here are some of the main wish list feature:

The ability to post once and display the post on all Subdomain blogs, Blog Landing Page and Main domain homepage if needed

Search across all blogs by tag/category e.t.c.

    Member sharing if needed

Tagging (could use Solspace tag module)

Restricted publish area to blog author/Editor for posting e.t.c.

    Related post across all blogs

Number of post view count display

Theme creation and assignment across blogs if needed

SEO friendly URLs (not an issue in my experience with EE)

    Thanks

    Ola

    Greetings, Ola,

There may be some licensing concerns here, could I ask that you instead email sales so that we can discuss this in detail?

    Thank you!

    Hi Lisa,

I am aware that they would have to pay for additional MSM and Main core of EE. My question is if the client will be able to get all the functionality. They want to host 8 blogs on the the same domain install and create 8 subdomains for each blog. Wordpress MU is free so that is why I am checking to make sure I can make the case for EE before pushing too hard.

    Thanks

Unless, of course, you want technical support, in which case its considerably more expensive.
