I am trying using Metaweblog API with Scribfire.

Connection is ok using the URL given by EE
    http://www.mysite.com/index.php?ACT=20&id=1
Scribfire detects blogs but not categories.

When I want to post I get a Javascript Application error msg with no label.

I searched the forum nut did not found anything.
    Can somebody help ?

    Thanks
    Jim

Haven’t tried Scribfire- is there anyway you can see a log of the xml sent/received?

    Unfortunately I don’t think so.

However in the parameter window two (among) informations are requested.

One is “API url server”, where I put the above link.

Second is “API key” where I don’t know what to put.

I’m not familiar with Scribfire either, but I’d take a peek on their site and find out of you need the API key to properly submit.  Not sure if that would make a difference, but it’s worth looking into first.

    Thank Greg,
I looked into the FAQ and found something about that, but with no result as according to my understanding the API key should be automatically submitted by the publishing software, note the plugin.

I tried something else using BlogDesk, which is said optimized for EE; see http://www.blogdesk.org/.

The situation remains the same, excepted I got a detailed error msg:
    “Error getting Blog-ID
XML Parsing Error: Element ‘html’ doesn’t exist in DTD”

Does it make sense for you ?

Hey, Jim. I was able to get BlogDesk to work. What happened first was that it tried to figure out the RPC address, and it got it wrong. Once I fixed that, I got it to work.

Double check your settings, and see if that helps.

Hm- scribefire was a little quirky, but I did get it working.  It did through the js error on me once.  And playing with it, it seems like it only using one content field- may be why you’re not seeing the content?  I went into my metaweblog settings basically select the same field for each of the ‘content/excerpt/more’ and they started showing up.  Unless there’s a setting I’m not seeing, it puts everything in whatever is set for ‘content’- I think it was content.  Anyway, I think that’s why it’s not showing the field data.

The js error I triggered once I couldn’t replicate.  But I don’t think a js error would be due to the EE code.  Might see if they have a forum/support and ask there.

But if you’re good posting to a single field, I think Scribe should work.

Haven’t tried blogdesk yet, though was checking out marsedit yesterday.  It worked fine aside from a bug we did spot- with the comment url link.  A fix is now in for that.

Will give blogdesk a shot, see if I can spot what you’re running into.

ETA- never mind!  Looks like Sue got it spotted.

    Thanks for clarifications and help.
But from a practical point I cannot improve the situation.
Basically BlogDesk was only to test an additional possibility.
    I would prefer Scribefire.
It’s a pity because with the both tools I can easily post on Wordpress.

Did you try what Robin mentioned in her previous post?

Yes, I selected only title and body excepted if “my metaweblog settings” refers to something more precise I did not understand.
But nothing new at the end

I got it working on my site as well.

What I had to do was set the blog type to be Other, and choose again MetaweblogAPI. It found my weblog and let me post successfully.

As it was obviously impossible to set correctly parameters I decided as ultimate action to uninstall and reinstall the module.
    And after it works perfectly.
May be a good and easy trick to suggest if same issue occurs.
    Thanks to everybody for assistance.

Glad you were able to get it working for your site. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
