ok i’ve searched these forums and gotten a lot of stuff about date fields but couldn’t find anything that explained clearly how to display a date in a recognizable format..
i have this field in my blog post: {listings_date}
how can i use php or whatever to show it as 12/07/08 or some such?

You need to use the format= parameter.
