For some reason, my EE installation can not send email any more from the communicate function.  I get the following when I turn debug on:

Unable to send email at this time.
    Debugging Message
    220 mail.lcanderson.net ESMTP ready

    hello: 250-mail.lcanderson.net
    250-AUTH CRAM-MD5 PLAIN LOGIN DIGEST-MD5
    250-STARTTLS
    250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
    250-8BITMIME
    250-PIPELINING
    250-ETRN
    250-DSN
    250 HELP

    from: 250 2.1.0 Sender ok

to: 250 2.1.5 Recipient ok (local)

data: 354 Enter mail, end with CRLF.CRLF

Failed to send SMTP email. Error:
Unable to send email using SMTP

Any ideas?  I’m on EE 1.6.0

Has it ever worked before? In other words, is this a sudden change? Is the above the whole output you get from email debugging? Perhaps it is a temporary mail server error; do you have access to the server’s logs?

Said all that, you should upgrade to EE 1.6.4 as a matter of some urgency. It’s recommended security update.

It’s worked fine for the past year.  That was the complete output.  I checked the logs on the mail server and it looks like the message was never sent.  I’ll upgrade to 1.6.4 tonight and see what happens.

Let us know how it goes. As a rule, things (luckily) don’t break without something’s changing. Some changes on your server, perhaps? An upgrade?
