Some posts get triple posted automatically... ?

For some reason, some of the posts made by the general users of my EE site are getting triple-posted. It have NEVER happened when publishing a post with the “admin” account. It does not seem to be related to the “quick save” feature (as I have actually removed that button so the users cannot use it.) Also, I don’t believe it is blog-specific.

Also, entries are never double-posted… if they are entered more than once automatically, it’s always in triplicates, all with the same exact timestamp.

    Larry:

Are your users posting from inside the control panel or with the SAEF?  Do you see this behavior from all users or just a few?

Also, what version/build of ExpressionEngine are you running?  You can find both values in the footer of yoru control panel

    Thanks,

    Hi Greg,
I believe the users are posting with SAEFs, but they have the ability to post via the control panel. I have designed this site for a client who is behind corporate firewalls, routers, and the like. I have decided that the behavior only happens when they post from within their network. I have an account with the exact same privs as theirs and cannot get it to triple-post from my office (on a diff. network of course). Does this make any sense?

We are using 1.6.3 (upgrading soon though)

huh, interesting.  I’m no server/networking guru, but I wonder if that’s the issue here.

As a test, can you get one of them to post via the control panel and not the SAEF, just so we can see if it is triple posting there?

And yes, upgrading is a good idea and strongly encouraged.  😉

Larry, have you turned on “Deny Duplicate Data”? This option prevents data submitted by users from being processed if it is an exact duplicate of data that already exists. You can find it in Admin > System Preferences > Security and Session Preferences.

    Thank Ingmar,

I have tried that and I think it caused errors when they posted (because it thought they were posting something that was already there. I have the client checking now (as I have re-enabled this option).

I did notice that one of the triple-posts had timestamp differences (2 posts at 3:22 and 1 at 3:23).

    Puzzled!?

Hm.  If you could replicate, I’d try using Firefox’s ‘Live Headers’ or something similar to try to figure out exactly what’s going on.  Turning on ‘Deny duplicate’ should make it stop.  But I can’t figure why it’s happening in the first place.

    Any extensions installed?
