In EE 1.6.2 I have functioning weblogs with field groups.  I could edit the custom fields for the field group with no problem.  I performed the following modifications described below from the Control Panel.  now, for ANY field group, when I click on a field title on the Admin > Section Administration > Field Groups > Custom Fields page, I see just one line, “* Required Fields”, and an Update button, but no listing of fields.  And only for one site does this problem occur.  For other sites (we have multisite) the Edit Custom Field page displays fine.

I modified the Field Label for one custom field—made it longer than 50 characters, it truncated the string.

I modified “Show this field by Default” from No to Yes for that one custom field.

I added a new custom field for that field group, and then did Change Field Order to modify the numbers so the new field would be next-to-last in the ordering.  The field display order was something like 307 and 308, and I changed it to 308, 307.

Now I can’t edit any custom fields from the Control Panel.  But the data looks ok in the database table exp_weblog_fields.

I deleted the new custom field and reversed the edits, but the problem persists.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

You should upgared to EE 1.6.4, if only for security reaons. If your EE files got somehow corrupted, that should fix things, too. You are not running any extensions, are you?

    Followup on previous post:

The URL for the Edit Custom Field page that is not displaying any data is
    http://oursite.com/index.php?S=0&C=admin&M=blog_admin&P=edit_field&field_id=500

Note that if I change the field_id to a non-existent field_id, then the Edit Custom Field page displays Field Name, Field Label, Field Instructions with empty text fields.
    http://oursite.com/index.php?S=0&C=admin&M=blog_admin&P=edit_field&field_id=501

And also, for creating a new custom field in that field group, the page also displays fine:
    http://oursite.com/index.php?S=0&C=admin&M=blog_admin&P=edit_field&group_id=26

    Thanks in advance,

Yes, we are running extensions.  I saw a Forum post about that being an issue, but we don’t use that File extension.  Yes, we can try upgrading to 1.6.4 and turning off our extensions and turning them back on.

    Let’s see what that yields.

Please let us know what you find.  After upgrading to 1.6.4, if the problem persists, disable your extensions by hitting the green button on the top right of the extension page.  If you disable them one by one, you will lose your extension settings.

    Thanks,
