Was there a solution found for this?  I am seeing this in EE 1.6.4 Build:  20080808 and ExpressionEngine Discussion Forum - Version 2.1.0 (20080710).

Confirmed beforehand that forums are enabled in general settings and that all forums are live.  Tried deinstalling module and reinstalling a couple times.  Can post topics as super admin or anyone for that matter.

We could have some versioning issues here.  Can you update everything to the latest version/builds?  This includes your Discussion Forum Module.

    Thanks,

Okay, upgraded to latest build for both ee and forums and issue is still there.  What do we look for/try next?

    Ok,

So we’re on the same page, can you take me step by step on what you are doing, along with any and all error messages you are receiving.

    Thanks,

Most immediate to the issue is that as superadmin I click on one of the two forum topics (same issue results regardless of forum fyi) and then click the “New Topic” button.

Next I put some simple text in title and message fields of form and click “submit post”.

I then receive the following error: “You are not authorized to perform this action”

    Seth,

Can you look at this KB Entry, specifically the “In General” section.  Try the solutions there and let us know if that makes a difference.

    Thanks,

No go unfortunately.  FYI - Can access the control panel no problem.  Just can’t post to forum.

Are you running any extensions?  If so, go to CP Home -> Utilities -> Extensions Manager and disable all extensions by clicking the green button at the top right side of the page.  Your settings will be saved by doing it this way.

Let’s see if that makes a difference.

Greg, thanks for continuing with this by the way.

    Disabled extensions is not working.

FYI - I tested another site in the same dev server/environment that I had worked on some time ago.  I have the exact same issue there, and I can confirm for certain that that setup worked before as I was able to complete my forum skin dev there.  Is there some more systemic; rather than a specific ee instance configuration that might be causing this?

Is this site publicly accessible or on a ‘localhost’ dev environment?

Ok.  Go in the same order here to see if you’re having the same problems.  That way we can rule everything out.  If that’s not working, post back here on the forums & we’ll go from thre.

    Thanks,

Well after a little wrassling, I can’t reproduce the issue on my staging server.  I’m bummed, but there must be some obscure config or permission or something issue going on.  The code is the same as I updated the staging direct from my repository so no diff there.

Would love it if there was a little more to that error code to help me troubleshoot.  Feeling a bit frustrated.

Appreciate your efforts, and if you have any additional recommendations, let me know.
