Getting Total Results of a Custom Field In Specific Category

Does anybody know of a way to get the “total_results” from a custom field in a specific category?

For example, let’s say I have “Weblog A”. In Weblog A, I have 3 categories - Cat 1, Cat 2, and Cat 3. I have a custom field in Weblog A called “widgets.”

I would like to show the total results of the custom field “widgets” by each individual category - not just the weblog.

Any ideas?
