    Hi There,

I’m busy developing an extranet for a client… The project is almost completed…
Currently i’m busy implementing the user logins…

Basically the entire site needs to be off limits for non members…

I’m wondering if there’s an easy and quick way to make it so that the default landing page is the member login page and if you were to manually try access another part of the site via bookmark for example that you would also be directed to the login if you aren’t already logged in…

The solution that I’ve come up with is a pretty tedious one, involving setting all templates to redirect to a page that meta-refreshes to the member/login/....

surely there must be a setting to make the entire site “members only” and i just cant find it?

Welcome to the EE forums, artwisedesign!

There isn’t a site wide setting to make the entire site only available for registered users, but there is a way you can get around this.

You can make the site be online, but change the settings for the Guest group to not be able to view the site when they attempt to view it.

You could modify the system offline template to put in a link to register/login.

    Will that work for you?

    Hi There,

I think that should work fine… It’s definitely more streamlined than my inital idea…

    Thanks…

    Hi Sue,

I’ve tried doing this, but unfortunately when access to the site is turned off for guests you can’t access the login page either…hmmmm… Do you perhaps have another suggestion?

    Thanks

    My apologies.

Which would be easier for you, adding an {if logged_out code segment to each template, or setting the value for each template group?

Just thought I’d share my solution with anyone else that might be interested…

I’ve restricted access to all my templates to certain groups, and set them to redirect to a login page for guests…
