I have an application where I need to export entries from EE to Wordpress.  Anyone done this before?  Is there a conversion tool handy anywhere?

Do you mean on a regular basis? I’d say it depends on what import format WP can handle. Creating that in EE should not be too much of a problem.

No, just a one time deal—I need to export all of my data for use on another server which has Wordpress installed.  Just looking for a tool which can handle this.

Well, it doesn’t really change much of what I’ve said: you need to export your EE data in a format that WP can use.

Which leads me to my original question - is there a tool out there that does this?  Does EE allow data exports?  WP does not have an import tool listed on their site anywhere that I’ve found.

WP doesn’t support the MT import format?

EE allows you to do anyhting with your data, including exporting it. It’s just that I don’t know what import formats WP can handle. The MT file format looks like a worhty contender, though.

I actually recently used MT format to re-enable some old archives.  I basically imported them into EE from an old EE Database backup.  Anyway, WP does use MT formatting as I also used that file to test out different CMS systems.

Here is a nice link right from the Wiki on how to create an MT compliant template for EE that allows you to export your articles easily.  One hint though:  The actualy webpage layout is weird, you have to do View—> Source and save that as thats the actual MT formatted file.

Exporting is a bit of a pain. Why not set up a custom RSS feed from EE to WP?

To be honest, I don’t see why it would be particularly painful? The template in the wiki should get you almost there, in most cases.

Using that template I linked to is just as easy as an RSS feed and accounts for all the requisite fields. All you do is save a text file and then import.
