I have a SEAF where you can upload files to a weblog, but when I submit, the title shows but not the file. I looked in the folder where the file is supposed to be uploaded to and it’s not there. I’ve even tried 3 different modules/extensions that have SAEF file upload functions and I can’t get any of them to upload files. I can upload files fine using the file upload in the PUBLISH form in the control panel just not from the SAEF. I have the member permissions set right, even though I’m trying to upload as a SuperUser. I also have XSS turned off. The server is a stupid Windows server.

    Thanks

    Hee- ‘stupid windows’.

OK- let’s test using the pure, stock, SAEF and its included file upload.  Disable all extensions- but button top right of the extensions page.  Let’s make sure there’s no interference.  Toss up a clean copy of the SAEF so we’re working from stock code.

Walk me through what happens when you’re logged in (as superadmin) and try to upload.  Upload window pop-up, let you pick an upload directory, give you the option to place in a field…. etc.  Let’s find where it breaks.

Make sure to test uploading to a directory you already know you can upload to via the control panel.

And- let me know the version/build you’re running.

Hmmm…. when I click the file upload link in the SAEF, the pop up comes up and says it can’t find the server. It works fine in the control panel. So I guess that’s a start. I need to find the stupid Windows server.

Ok… I figured out the problem, at least for the the stock SAEF. The path to the control panel was messed up. I fixed that and got it to work. But when I try one of the modules, I can’t get it to upload anything to anywhere. It acts like it does. The title shows but the custom field doesn’t get populated.

You lost me a bit at the end- ‘when I try one of the modules’?  Walk me through it- what module?

It’s one of the SAEF file upload modules that I downloaded. I’ve tried 3 different SAEF file upload modules or extensions and for every one, I can’t get it to upload anything. So I guess if nothing else, I can just use the stock SAEF file upload. I just don’t like having to do the pop up window and having all those options. I like the idea of just doing the standard file upload form like those in the extensions and modules I’ve downloaded. So either I don’t have something set up right in the EE control panel or there’s something not set up right on the server side. It doesn’t make sense for all 3 extensions not to upload.

Jeesh- that’s how this thread started out, isn’t it!  OK- it works w/saef now- right?  Let’s try getting the simple uploader to work, as it’s a first party add-on.  Grab a fresh copy, remove any others, let me know what extensions you still have installed.

Then- walk me through how it fails.

I uploaded the extension. dumb question though… is there any special tags or code that goes in the template to make the simple uploader work? All I need is the title and the file uploader. There’s no documentation with this to show what the template should look like.

OK… after figuring things out, I got both the stock file upload and the simple uploader to work, but I can’t get the extension file uploader to upload anything. I have the lg_saef_file_upload extension and the Image Uplaoder from putonyourlights.net. I must be doing something wrong.

project_digital, you’ll need to get support for lg_saef_file_upload extension and the Image Uploader from putonyourlights.net from the authors of those extensions.

I can move this thread for you.
