Howdy EE folks! I’ve got a question for you.

From everything I’ve read it seems that:

the Simple Commerce Module can only be used with PayPal website payments standard, where the customer is taken to the cart on PayPals’s site. There is currently no way to integrate PayPal website payments pro with the Simple Commerce Module. Are these statements correct?

If there is no way to use website payments pro, what about something like FoxyCart? Does anyone have any experience with FoxyCart? I checked the forums and did not see too much about it.

We were hoping to use EE to build a site where people could register and pay for events via PayPal, and another site where we would use the multisite manager to sell different products on several sites. I’m hoping we can do this with website payments pro, but if not we may end up using payments standard.

The above is correct in that there is no default feature that does this. Its possible with custom development.

There was a 3rd party add-on that was developed for FoxyCart called CoolCommerce. I’ve not personally used it so I can’t tell you much about it. Your best bet is to contact the developers directly.

    Leslie,

    Thank you once again.

If there is anyone who has successfully integrated PayPal website payments pro into EE, please let me know how you did it.

I have checked out the CoolCommerce site, but they state that the products will be discontinued and unsupported.

I have read about someone using PHP Supercart with EE, so I might check that out.

Thank you for your quick reply.

You might want to make your life a lot easier, and check out EventBrite. It’s an online event registration system and works with both PayPal and Google Checkout.

I’ve been using it for clients for over three years and it works great. Note, I don’t work for them or anything, just a happy customer!

EventBrite looks like one of those services that doesn’t offer integration within our site. They also keep a minimum of $.99 per ticket. No thank you. We can sell out over 10,000 tickets a month offline, and are expecting to sell even more online. So why pay all that cash to EventBrite (not to mention that PayPal will take a cut, too) when a developer can create a solution for a one-time fee? It makes sense to work with a developer in this case.

I trying to do a similar thing with EE - sell event tickets.  Did you find a solution?

    Thanks.

This may be a really dumb question… But is it possible to use something like ZenCart with EE?—either integrated with it, or at least sitting alongside it?
