Google warns me on every page of a duplicate title tag:

    http://www.thesite.com/asection/thepage/
    http://www.thesite.com/asection/thepage

the little ‘/’ at the end is flagging it as separate page… I don’t want duplicate content penalties… anyone have a solution?

Check this page out. Should help you out, assuming you can modify your htaccess file.

As Andy mentioned, you can address this issue via .htaccess modification. Keep in mind that Google usually will figure this out on its own, and, if you check back to Webmaster Central in a few days, the issue will most likely have been resolved. To be safe, you should chose a default of “/” or not just as you would for canonicalization of “www”.
