I recently upgraded to ExpressionEngine 1.6.4 - Build 20080710 and activated the Pages module. I configured the module according to the steps in the instructions, but the Pages tab doesn’t appear in the Publish form.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this?

    Thanks,

    Carl

Carl, are you using any 3rd party extensions that work with the tabs?

No, everything is pretty much out of the box. I have these non-standard plugins though:

    pi.countdown.php
    pi.world_weather.php
    pi.html_strip.php

    Thanks Sue,

Sorry, where exactly are you looking for the “Pages tab”? When you go to CP > Modules > Pages, don’t you have “Create New Page”?

    Ingmar,

I do see “Create New Page” and I set the preferences for the module.

Then I create a new page, it prompts me to select a weblog, I do.

    I enter content.

When I return to the Pages module, the page hasn’t saved and the preferences I set for the module are no longer present.

In effect, I’ve just created a blog entry that posts.

    Thanks,

    Carl

When you go directly to the ‘Publish’ tab to publish a new entry, there’s no ‘Pages’ tab showing up there with the Date/Categories/etc/ tabs?

    Robin,

    That’s correct.

    Thanks,

Hm- I don’t think it’s seeing it as installed on the publish page:

    if ($PREFS->ini('site_pages') !== FALSE)

And the fact that settings aren’t ‘sticking’ suggests something is up as well.  Hm- looking at the installation, I don’t see a difference between 1.6.0 and 1.6.4, not seeing why that should be an issue.

Can you try this- go in and deinstall the module.  You’ll lose any associated data- but I don’t believe you have any.  Then reinstall- and go to ‘Publish’ - see if the tab shows up now.
