I’m new and trying to learn by playing around with demo. Not sure that is the purpose of Core download, but that is how I’m using it before I buy.

    My question is:

In the CP-Admin-Sytem Administration-General Configuration-Name of your site

I put the name of my site in CP, saved it, but when I look at my source file, the title tag has a different name (Default something). I was able to go into the template in the CP and edit the title tag, but what is the purpose of the “Name of your site” in the General Configuration?  It is kind of misleading only because most other scripts I have used, when you name your site in the CP it is reflected in the title tag.

Is this a bug or could you please explain the purpose of naming your site in the General Configuration if it has no SEO effect in your title tag.

    Thanks

Hi, Steve, welcome to the forums!

Depending on how you set up your templates, you’ll see different information reflected on your pages.  I suspect your templates are pulling the weblog name, not the site name.  I’d recommend reading Dissecting the Default Templates to get more of an idea of how they work.

Of course, the templates are 100% under your controls, so this would be an easy change to make directly in your templates as part of any other customizations you’re doing. =)

Since this is more of a “how does ExpressionEngine work?” thread and you’re actively working on it, I’m also going to move this down to General rather than pre-sales. =)

Thanks for the fast and informative reply. There is a lot here to learn but it may take time for me to find all the different areas to read. I would of never found your recommended reading if you would of not provided the link.

    Thanks
