    Hello all,

    I’ve encountered a problem in EE that concerns formatting. Basically, I’ve done a client site, now I’m trying to take the content given to me (in word document) and copy and paste it in EE. Should be easy. However, when I copy the following from word doc:

    Fellowship – Affirmation of God’s People through Relationships
    Bright Stars, Levitical Men’s Fellowship, D.O.V.E., Relationship
Enrichment, Sister-to-Sister, Youth Fellowship (Jabez Teens), Boy‘s Brigade.

    It turns to this:

    Fellowship – Affirmation of God’s People through Relationships
    Bright Stars, Levitical Men’s Fellowship, D.O.V.E., Relationship
Enrichment, Sister-to-Sister, Youth Fellowship (Jabez Teens), Boy‘s Brigade.

    As you can see, it’s rendering the dashes and apostrophes into some weird symbol. Is there any way to get around this?

    Forgive me if this has been asked previously but I couldn’t find any results and I’m pressed for time.

    Ah, that’s right down my alley 😊 It is an encoding issue. My inital guess would be you have to change your encoding to utf-8 in your template. Do you have a link to your site?

    you can find the link to the site here:
    http://www.nlbcbvi.org/index.php

    However, it coding for it on EE is already set to utf-8.

    Not your website, I am afraid:

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

    If you’d use {charset} EE would insert the correct encoding automatically. Makes sense?

    Not sure I understand that but I’ll have my developer look at this post to see your comments.

    Thanks.

    The line I quoted was taken directly from your website. Instead it should read

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">

    or preferably

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset={charset}">

    in your template.

    Worked like a charm. Logged in, changed it and now everything is rendering fine.
    Thanks and hope this thread can help someone else with the same problem.
