    Hello,

Can’t we use NetBeans IDE for PHP Development ? I am asking because it’s free, platform independent and also has a good community around.

I found a URL but don’t know whether it’s useful.

Your thoughts will be helpful to all of our Community.

    Thanks in Advance

I believe it’s only a preview, it’s not released yet. Somewhere i read eclipse and netbeans are matched to each other feature wise.

We? You can use whatever you want as long as you enjoy working with it. The best way to find wheather it would suitable or not would be to download it and jump right in.

I have used it.  I want to love it but the problem is that like many Java IDE’s, it is not snappy enough for me.  As slow as it can be, it gets way worse when I use it with SFTPDrive.  Though Eclipse is slow at times also, it is much better than NetBeans.  I have since just switched to E-text editor.

Well… I’ve seen the new video on NetBeans website and it’s just amazing.

I just can’t wait to Ignite code using NetBeans.

    Cheers.

I just wanted to share my happiness with you all without creating a brand new post!!!

CodeIgniter + NetBeans = Happy Cross-platform Coding (It’s not only me, but a lot of developers who are always coding in different languages and it’s very nice that NB is supporting the 3 languages I love. Java, PHP and C++).

    Happy Coding

NetBeans 6.5 Beta was just released yesterday.  If you liked the Early Access version, you’ll love the improvements made in this version.  Also, the new JavaScript editor and debugging and database tools kick ass!

E-texterditor will run natively on linux some time in the future, and E is compatible with Textmate bundles.

But it is not portable :(

I love NetBeans for Java development and it is by far my Java IDE of choice.  I long ago abandoned Eclipse in favour of NetBeans as I found Eclipse to be far too quirky and fragile (most always due to plugins that were being used, but were necessary to provide the functionality I needed).  NetBeans GUI editor is second to none from what I’ve found, and it’s updating process is nice.

Enough Java-related talk tough… I’ve played with the PHP support in NetBeans and it really looks promising, but I’ve yet to attempt to adopt it for day-to-day use.  Also, the JavaScript support is pretty slick as well.  I actually just use Notepad++ for the majority of my non-Java coding.  It is not without it’s own little irritations, but pretty solid overall.  When 6.5 is formally released, I will certainly give it another spin.

in the last months i’ve been using aptana (free), coda (paid) and zend (paid)... right now, i choose to use just coda, ‘cause it’s light and u can integrate the ci manual in it… ahhh, i forgot to tell… i’m a mac user (coda is just for mac)...

aptana and zend are both based on eclipse, like most ide out there…

also, i recommend aptana, ‘cause is able in all OS…

the Netbeans Developers have opened a vote on which PHP frameworks they will support in the next version of Netbeans (after 6.5).

    Details for voting here:

There’s only a couple of weeks left to vote and Symfony is currently leading by far:

Frankly speaking, I don’t think making support for CI in NB is an easy thing, since CI not a PHP 5 framework.

But don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see it gets integrated into a good IDE that I’ve used to develop Java projects.
