Just thought I’d drop by here before heading to bed really, really late…

It’s been a full year since we migrated to Expression Engine at Gator Country (http://www.gatorcountry.com) with enormous help from the talented Luke Stevens.

It still amazes me how flexible and powerful EE is - Luke was able to wrestle it exactly into the way I wanted it to be from a rough draft drawn up on scrap paper to reality.

It has also worked very well with aMember for paid subscriptions since that’s our core business. Thanks to aMember, EE is also integrated with vBulletin and other programs that aMember can handle (phpMyDirectory, Pligg, etc.).

On top of it all, EE seems to handle the enormous traffic quite well—we average around 10 million page views monthly with it going up towards 20 million during peak football season.

Really, my only big peeve about EE is the wiki portion which we want to use but would cost us too much to have the templates converted to our existing look and feel. Just wish the wiki portion was part of the overall EE to make templating easy.

In short, we’re very happy at how well EE has performed and with the flexibility it offered so that our website looks like a news site, not a blog. Big thanks to Luke also for helping us keep it well oiled whenever we needed tweaks done. 😊

Thanks for the kind words Ray and congratulations on the success of your site.

And Luke, if you happen to spot this post; great site man! The design detail and use of native EE functionality is really great.

I’ll be bookmarking your site to show to others who ask, “yes, but can it do “x”?”
