ERROR: The following Errors were encountered

      1. Unable to connect to your database server.
      2. Unable to select the database

Hello everyone! I’m getting the infamous ‘Unable to connect to your database server’. No comprende! I’m using EE 1.5.2, MySQL 5.0, and instead of phpMyAdmin, I’m using MySQL GUI tool 5.0. When I open ‘MySQL Administrator’ I can see the db that I created for EE, I check for typos, and the ‘user’ and ‘password’ are ok. The MySQL password doesn’t have any special characters, only upper, lower cases and numbers, my ‘Apache’ is working fine and the install I’m doing is local.

I never had problems before installing EE. Any help? Thanks.

You are installing EE 1.5.2? Why? Is this a fully licensed install, or EE Core?

I always used EE with phpMyAdmin that is installed by phpdev, is a bundle that comes with apache, php and mysql. I wanted to try MySQL GUI Tools 5.0, it’s a very nice gui, but for some reason it didn’t work. Anyways, I got rid of MySQL GUI and still wasn’t working. Because my installation was local I just left the password blank and it worked. Many people run into this problem when installing EE locally.
