    Hi all

I am migrating a blog from EE - version 1.6.3 - to Drupal 6.  I can’t find any tools or ideas about how to do this except some older posts and dead links.

Does any have ideas, script, process, plugin, etc that might assist?

    Thanks

    James Turnbull

Can I ask why this was moved?  I am a paying customer - am I not entitled to technical support?

It was moved because it’s a How To question, not a tech support question. A tech support question would be related to something in EE. Your question is more about Drupal than EE, and even if it wasn’t about Drupal, its would be about how to accomplish something in EE.

That said, I unfortunately, no nothing about Drupal. My thought would be you would need to create a custom SQL Query.  All the conversations, I recall around Drupal were how to get data out of Drupal and into EE; though technically any solution should also work in reverse. Also, I found a link to someone who create a script that converts data from pivot to drupal. Not an exact match, but I’d assume the process would be similar in terms of set-up, since comments, categories, blogs, etc., would need to be transferred.

    Hi James,

I may be wrong but as you are going from EE to Drupal then they can’t really offer any support for Drupal as that is not their system.

Sorry I’ve never really used Drupal so won’t be able to help on this either but I’m sure some people will have done so and will chime in with some help.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Here’s a baseline script I used for a proof-of-concept during Drupal 4.x times:

    Converting EE to Drupal

The script converted a site of thousands of entries and tens of thousands of comments.

Obviously, even if this script is still compatible with Drupal 6, it will need a lot tweaking to get right. PM me if you have any questions.

I haven’t looked up recently which importing modules for Drupal exist, but you might be better off if you can export the existing data into MT format (use this as a starting point) and import it into Drupal. You may to want to temporarily change the default formatting of any exported fields to “None” if you wish to preserve the raw formatting of entries and comments.

Thanks Markus!  I found your script just before you posted and I am testing it now.  Looks like it mostly still works… 😊

Please do me a favor and send me an updated copy 😉

I’d like to compile scripts to migrate to and from EE on another site of mine…

Actually it pretty much worked.  The only thing that springs to mind is where the content gets copies - body or teaser or both.  I am new to Drupal so I don’t know which is normal or if it depends on templates etc.
