So I’ve met a couple developers now that use linewrap when they code. I personally find it extremely hard to read code with line wrap on. So the poll.

I personally can’t understand using wordwrap for anything except for plaintext. Even with emails in gmail I do a return after about half-way across the entry box because otherwise I feel it is annoying to read.
I guess it’s also the reason I favor fixed-width sites over fluid/variable-width ones.
With some editors, side-scrolling can be bothersome, but learning keyboard shortcuts helps alleviate that.

Off, always and ever. If a line gets to long I’ll rewrite the logic or shorten variable names. If all else fails I’ll add the linebreak myself, but wordwrap just gets annoying. Especially for lines that are just a tad too long.

I have Vim wrap the lines. I don’t like when people manually add breaks all of their code to make it within X number of columns.

My code always fits on one line; wrapping is always turned on: but it doesn’t make a difference

I don’t use line wrap but try and code to 80chars. I don’t put a break if it goes over this but Instead of say having
<tr><td>Lots of data</td><td>Lots of data</td><td>Lots of data</td></tr>I will do
<tr>
<td>Lots of data</td>
<td>Lots of data</td>
<td>Lots of data</td>
</tr>I don’t understand how coding with linewrap is readable? I just get lost

I just use 79 chars all the time. That’s the recommended way to do it. Easier to read and maintain for everyone 😉

What kind of a bad editor/IDE do you use where wrapping is on by default 😉
