Conditionals in User Message Template?

    I’d like to customize the User Message Template based off URL segment variables. Is this possible? It isn’t parsing the conditional, and is simply writing out the code below on the page:

    {if segment_1 == 'hello1'}
        hello1 stuff
    {if:elseif segment_1 == 'hello2'}
        hello2 stuff
    {if:else}
        hello3 stuff
    {/if}

    Thanks!

    That’s pretty much a single purpose template and doesn’t use any of the stuff we’re used to in the weblog module.

    That’s unfortunate. I’m sure others have had the same need. Can anyone suggest a workaround to accomplish this?

    I can’t recall ever seeing a workaround. About the only change I’ve seen is in what the messages say (how they’re worded) and that’s in the language file.

    Edit-Add: The user message template is just system responses. Your example of “hello” doesn’t really represent a typical system response. What are you trying to accomplish? Maybe there’s a different way.

    I am using Solspace’s FreeForm and have two different forms on the site. For the layout and graphics to be consistent when returning to the “Thank You” page, I need to change the xhtml and css—everything but the content. Using conditionals based off the URL segment made the most sense, only it doesn’t work.

    Ahhh. Yes, you can style them any way you want but that’s about it.

    These “specialty templates” aren’t so special. 😜 Wonder why EE has limitations on what they can do.

    Well, it’s a minor limitation. If everything in the system had all the same functionality as the main weblog module, it would use/take more resources. Most just don’t require it.
